Education
In 2013, I received my Bachelor of Science in Applied Biology, from the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, Germany, with a focus on biochemistry and molecular biology. I also did an exchange semester abroad studying biochemistry and biomedicine at the University of Valencia, in Spain. In 2015, I received my Master of Science in Biomedicine at the University of Southern Denmark, Denmark with a focus on neurobiology. And in 2017 I received my Ph.D. in Immunology at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam.
Experience
Hi, my name is Svenja and I am originally from Germany but have lived around Europe a fair bit - until finally moving to lovely Newcastle! I would like to teach German and biology/related subjects to students of any age/education but am also happy to help school students with other subjects. While living in Denmark, I have volunteered as a teaching assistant a few times. This included helping high school students with both written and spoken assignments. Additionally, I have gained teaching experience by supervising a Bachelor student in the laboratory for 5 months. I did not only help her with laboratory tasks but was also overseeing her presentation skills. In my current Ph.D. position in Newcastle, I occasionally help out in university practical classes as a lab assistant. I enjoyed those teaching/supervising activities a lot and would love to gain some more teaching experience! I do not only enjoy them but it would help me further in my career, as ultimately I would like to supervise more students. I love biology and related subjects and would like to help others who may struggle with it. Additionally, as German is my first language, I am skilled at teaching and practicing German.

Weekends at any time, Tues/Thurs after 7PM, Monday after 8PM, Wednesday after 8PM, Friday after 6PM

Hobbies
My studies take up quite a bit of my time but when I am free, I usually go to the gym and work out, or hop onto my bike and cycle around. I love good food and love to travel - in fact I have lived in 6 different countries so far. Apart from that, I love living close to the beach and being able to enjoy the sun :)
